Kirkcaldy’s
Xmas Lights Switch On Party a Huge success
A great afternoon’s
entertainment combined with the perfect weather brought a massive
crowd to Kirkcaldy Town Centre’s Christmas Lights Switch
On party on Sunday 16th November. An estimated 6,000 people lined
the streets of the town centre to enjoy the great atmosphere of
the fun events laid on for them.
The annual
Santa’s reindeer parade organised by the Mercat Shopping
Centre was once again a huge crowd pleaser with everyone desperate
to catch a glimpse of the reindeer and Santa. Joining the parade
was that world superstar, Scooby-Doo, who was an instant success
with the hundreds of children who flocked him wherever he went.
Throughout the afternoon Scooby-Doo did several walkabouts through
out the town centre, from the west end to the east end of the
High Street, and in both Shopping centres. The final piece of
the entertainment jigsaw was the popular “Pip, Pop &
Santa” musical shows performed on the Switch On stage which
attracted a huge crowd on each occasion.
Sunil Varu,
Kirkcaldy Town Centre Manager said,
“The
accent of the Switch On entertainment was firmly on “festive
fun” and the I believe the huge crowd did not go home disappointed.
Scooby-Doo’ appearances throughout the afternoon were met
with great enthusiasm and there will be many people who will have
cherished memories of the day recorded in their digital cameras.
I
am particularly delighted to work in partnership with the Mercat
Shopping Centre in offering an event which makes Kirkcaldy the
centrepiece of Fife’s Christmas festivities and in turn
making Kirkcaldy a great festive shopping destination”.
