Kirkcaldy’s
Tourism Partners Launch
Summer Events Pamphlet
Kirkcaldy’s
tourism partners – “TFI Kirkcaldy” – this
week launched the first collaborative piece of work in the form
of the Kirkcaldy Summer Events pamphlet, a colourful publication
entitled “Wild Days Out For All The Family” showcasing
a variety of high profile events planned for the coming months
in several of Kirkcaldy’s tourist destinations.
Some 100,000
pamphlets will be distributed in the next few weeks in Tayside,
Fife, Edinburgh and central Scotland in an attempt to put Kirkcaldy
on the tourist trail this summer and encourage people to positively
change their perception of the town as a place of fun and excitement
for days out with the family.
Sunil Varu,
Kirkcaldy Town Centre Manager, explained:
“The
TFI Kirkcaldy partners have worked hard to pull the events together
and it is to their credit for allowing their events and venues
to be packaged in this way in order to raise Kirkcaldy’s
profile as a retail and visitor destination of choice in east
central Scotland. From the great cultural offering to the outdoor
activities and Fife’s best shopping, the various venues
offer something for everyone and reinforces Kirkcaldy as a place
with a certain “buzz” about it.
The high profile
town centre events have been planned under the theme from the
Anne Frank Festival, “The Dignity of Diversity”, and
aim to celebrate different cultures through music and food which
we hope will be popular with the public: Latin American Samba
music (June), Caribbean music event (July), A Kirkcaldy music
festival (August), and the International Market (September).”
Other TFI
Kirkcaldy partners were enthusiastic in the co-ordinated approach
leading to a positive outcome in the form of the pamphlet highlighting
the Kirkcaldy’s collective offer of many different types
of events and activities.
Craig Lockhart
of Kartstart, stated:
“For
the first time we have a single pamphlet which promotes the positive
side to Kirkcaldy and gives the customers – whether locals
or visitors – a clear message that there are many reasons
to visit Kirkcaldy and that it is an interesting and exciting
place. Where else can you experience such a wide variety of things
for the whole family to do in such a small area? ”
Drew Shedden,
of Cluny Clays, added,
“It’s
good to feel and be part of the Kirkcaldy ‘product’
and I am delighted to have our Country Festival included within
the pamphlet. What this initiative has also given the partners
is the opportunity to work more closely together and encourage
customers to experience each other’s products and services.
This can only benefit Kirkcaldy in the long term.”
