| Adam Hills Launches Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival 2009 The second annual Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival was launched today in Kirkcaldy by one of the headline acts appearing in this year's event, Adam Hills . In only its second year, the Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival has already established itself on the circuit as a high class comedy festival after Glasgow and Edinburgh with some of the biggest comedy names in the UK set to appear this Autumn. Building and doubling on last year's inaugural 4 day event, this year's Festival involves 8 venues hosting 23 performances and 4 workshops over 9 days. From 26th September to 4 th October, the star-studded line up pays homage to the Year of Homecoming with a great array of Scottish talent including the rising comedy star Kevin Bridges, broadcaster and comedian Tam Cowan and TV & Radio star Des Clarke. There is also a genuinely international flavour to this year's Festival with acclaimed performers including Australian Adam Hills and Irishman Sean Hughes. The Comedy Festival is organised by the Scottish Comedy Agency on behalf of Kirkcaldy Town Centre Management Limited (KTCM) and supported this year by EventScotland, the national events agency. KTCM's Chairman, Colin Brown stated, “We are absolutely delighted with this year's line-up which will give people throughout Scotland the opportunity to see some of the biggest stars of TV and radio as part of the Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival. The high quality Festival, which kick-starts our “Awesome Autumn” programme of events, is consistent with our intent on making this the third Comedy Festival in Scotland after Glasgow and Edinburgh and will be a great boon to the local businesses and the wider community. Our thanks go to Tommy Sheppard of the Scottish Comedy Festival for organising the events and to EventScotland whose support has been very welcome, as well as the host of sponsors in making the Festival happen”. Scottish Comedy Agency Director Tommy Sheppard , stated, “ "We are delighted to get the opportunity again to bring a feast of comedy to Kirkcaldy with the best in Scottish and international stand-up. A glance at the programme will demonstrate to comedy fans throughout the country that Kirkcaldy is definitely the place to be at the end of September." Paul Bush OBE , Chief Operating Officer at EventScotland, said: “The Kirkcaldy Comedy Festival has grown phenomenally in a very short space of time and this growth will ensure the Festival has more to offer across a wider range of dates to attract even bigger audiences from across Scotland . The Festival is further supported by the talented comedians headlining this year and the fact that it has attracted international talent which is especially significant given that this is Scotland 's year of Homecoming. We are confident that this year's expanded programme will prove to be a hit with all who attend.” Kevin Bridges kicks off the Comedy Festival on Saturday 26 th September and Adam Hills completes it on Sunday 4 th October, with the final night also offering the chance to the Comedy workshops “graduates” to perform in their own comedy gig.
