KIRKCALDY
STAGES SCOTLAND’S FIRST EVER “BLOKES DAY”!
Scotland’s first ever “Blokes Day” will be staged
in Kirkcaldy Town Centre on Thursday 21st December, offering an
unrivalled package of customer care services to Christmas shoppers.
What’s the difference? It’s only for Blokes!
It’s
well known that men are not great shoppers and there are doubtless
100s of horror stories of women opening their presents on Xmas
day and being horrified, hurt and disappointed at what their partners
have bought – usually as a last minute panic buy!!. No thought
has gone into buying these presents. The answer to this perennial
problem in Kirkcaldy is “Blokes Day”, a concept developed
by Kirkcaldy Town Centre Management.
For the first
time ever in Scotland, a large collection of premium brand High
Street shops and local niche shops will take part in the “Blokes
Day” event by offering a personal shopper and gift wrapping
service to men looking for that extra special gift for their loved
ones. In the spirit of collaboration, local pubs and restaurants
are taking part through the offer of a free drink or snack as
a way of de-stressing after the shopping spree and some will also
offer a gift wrapping service!
The concept
has been developed by Sunil Varu, Kirkcaldy Town Centre Manager,
“Men
struggle at Christmas time to buy the appropriate presents which
is why you will find so many shopping on Xmas eve desperately
looking for last minute gifts. There is a mixture of exasperation
and stress which makes the whole shopping experience so much worse.
I
am delighted over 40 businesses in Kirkcaldy Town centre have
agreed to take part in this Festive event by collectively offering
the special customer care service.
The
bars offering the free drink are offering what they have always
done : a male crèche service!! As many women will testify,
a man will rarely go missing if she leaves him in a bar while
she goes for her shopping!
A
wider benefit of the event will hopefully be to prevent the stress
levels for the men and also the arguments with partners on Xmas
day!!
