Kirkcaldy, the 'Lang Toun' with its famous Links Market has a population of almost 60,000 people. It is the birthplace of Adam Smith 'The Father of Modern Economics', Victorian Engineer Thomas Carlyle and child poet 'Pet Marjory'. The current Prime Minister Gordon Brown grew up here.
